WATERScapes
MakerHood waterfronts are for everyone. The 9-mile NewTown waterfront provides much needed recreation space for upland neighborhoods while providing space for a range of industrial activities. The landscape design would actively remediate contamination in a series of ‘sponge parks’. Site berms and planting areas would protect the region from rising tides and storm surges while providing areas for natural habitat restoration and waterfront food production.
Newtown Creek Public Waterfront
A 9-mile continuous public park along the creek brings recreation, access and ecological resilience to the area.
Dockside Green
Raised berms and storm resistent landscapes manage storm and sea-level rise in Newtown’s most vulnerable areas.
LOS ANGELES RIVER URBAN AGRICULTURE PLAN
Large-scale commercial farming provides economic opportunity. Smaller community farms provide access to healthy food, and opportunities for community empowerment.

San Mateo Wastewater Treatment Plant
